Actor Randeep Hooda recently marked the one-year completion of his film Swatantra Veer Savarkar by sharing behind-the-scenes photos and clips on Instagram. The actor, who not only played the lead role but also co-wrote, directed, and produced the film, reflected on the challenges he faced during its making.
In a heartfelt post, Randeep revealed that he suffered a knee fracture while filming an intense horse-riding sequence. Despite the injury, he continued shooting, pushing through the physical pain. He also recalled the emotional and physical struggles he endured, including his extreme weight loss journey for the role.
Sharing his thoughts, Randeep wrote, “3 years ago, I embarked on an unforgettable journey with Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, which released on this day last year, a film that changed me in ways I never imagined. From co-writing, directing, producing, to playing the role of Veer Savarkar, it was a labor of love, passion, and sacrifice. The physical pain of shooting with a fractured knee, the emotional highs and lows, and the grueling weight loss journey all shaped this experience.”
He expressed gratitude to his friends, cast, and crew for their support, even humorously mentioning how they tolerated him as a ‘hangry’ director. He wrote – “Yet, what truly made it special was the immense love and support I received from my friends, cast, and crew—who stood by me, even when I was a ‘hangry’ director. This film has been more than just a project; it’s been life-changing. Thank you to every single person who believed in me, and to the audience for embracing this story with open hearts. Forever grateful for this chapter in my life.”

The film, known for its intense storytelling and Randeep’s powerful performance, was appreciated by audiences for shedding light on lesser-known aspects of Savarkar’s life. The film, Veer Savarkar, was a passion project for Randeep and remains one of his most personal works.
