Actress Mrunal Thakur has added her voice to the growing concern surrounding a viral deepfake video featuring her fellow actress, Rashmika Mandanna. Taking to social media, Thakur expressed her disappointment and condemnation for those responsible, denouncing the lack of conscience among such individuals. She applauded Rashmika for speaking out against this disturbing trend, shedding light on the proliferation of manipulated videos of female actors circulating online.
In her message, Mrunal Thakur highlighted the need for the entertainment community and society as a whole to address the issue. She questioned why this matter has largely been met with silence and encouraged everyone not to remain passive.
“Shame on people who resort to such things, it shows that there is no conscience left at all in such people. Thank you @rashmika_mandanna for speaking up, for addressing this issue that so far we have seen glimpses of but a lot of us chose to remain silent. Everyday there are morphed, edited videos of female actors floating around on internet zooming into inappropriate body parts. Where are we heading as a community, as a society? We may be actresses in the “limelight” but at the end of the day each one of us are human. Why aren’t we talking about it? Don’t remain silent, now is not the time,” she wrote.
Initially, Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan expressed his concerns on social media, advocating for legal action to combat the misuse of AI on a viral deepfake video of Rashmika. His post went viral in no time and made headlines.
Actress Rashmika Mandanna, in response to her deepfake video, shared a lengthy post on social media.
