The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned several prominent celebrities from the entertainment industry in connection with a money laundering case linked to the Mahadev App, a betting platform.
After summoning Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor, the agency has now issued summons to actress Hina Khan, comedian Kapil Sharma and Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi for questioning.
News agency ANI tweeted, โED has summoned comedian Kapil Sharma and actor Huma Qureshi in connection with the Mahadev betting app case: ED Sources.โ Actor Hina Khan has also been called for the same purpose, as per a report of News18.
Earlier this year, many celebrities participated in the extravagant 200 crore wedding ceremony of the Mahadev App’s CEO, Sourabh Chandrakar, in Dubai. They later attended a success party for the same app. Reports suggest that these transactions involved large sums of cash and were conducted through illegal means.
According to an ED source, Ranbir Kapoor has been called to provide insight into the betting business transactions. It’s crucial to note that Kapoor has not been summoned as an accused party at this point. His interrogation is intended to shed light on his knowledge of the sources of funds he received, which could potentially reveal information about the plans of the app’s promoters and their associations.
Notably, Bharti Singh, Bhagyashree, Neha Kakkar and Shraddha Kapoor are among the celebrities who may face future summons for further investigation in this money laundering case. The ED is actively probing the matter to uncover any wrongdoing.
