Legendary Bollywood actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar passed away at the age of 87 on Friday in Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. His son, Kunal Goswami, confirmed the news, stating that the actor breathed his last at 3:30 am after battling prolonged health issues.
Manoj Kumar’s mortal remains have been kept at his Juhu residence, where fans and well-wishers can pay their final respects. His last rites will be performed at Pawan Hans Crematorium on Saturday at 12 noon. The family is waiting for a few relatives to arrive from abroad before the final rituals.
An Icon of Patriotic Cinema
Fondly known as “Bharat Kumar” for his patriotic roles, Manoj Kumar was one of Bollywood’s most celebrated actors. His iconic films include Purab Aur Paschim, Kranti, Upkar, and Roti, Kapda Aur Makaan, which resonated with audiences across generations. His work often reflected themes of nationalism, social justice, and self-reliance.

Honors and Legacy
In recognition of his immense contribution to Indian cinema, the Government of India honored him with the Padma Shri in 1992. In 2016, he received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest award in cinema, for his outstanding contribution to the industry.
