The controversy surrounding Ram Kapoor in Netflix’s reality show Lock Upp 2 continues to make headlines. After contestant Shreya Kalra accused Ram of making her uncomfortable, his wife and actress Gautami Kapoor has now broken her silence and strongly defended her husband.
The issue started after a recent task where Shreya Kalra secured a win that helped Ram Kapoor escape elimination. In celebration, Ram kissed Shreya on her cheeks. Later, while speaking to Shilpa Shinde, Shreya admitted that the gesture made her uncomfortable. She said, “Maintain some boundaries. This time if he tries to kiss me, then I am going to hold his mouth and say, ‘Even my dad doesn’t kiss me so much, so stop it.'”
Shreya also recalled another incident during a task involving Shivangi Joshi. She claimed Ram stood very close to Shivangi, after which Harshad Chopda asked him to step back. According to Shreya, Ram moved away immediately, and Harshad later apologized to him.
The episode sparked mixed reactions online. While some viewers criticized Ram Kapoor’s behaviour, others defended him. A section of social media users also started trolling the actor and calling him names.
Reacting to the controversy, Gautami Kapoor shared a video on Instagram and urged people not to judge Ram based on edited episodes. She said, “I had decided not to speak about Lock Upp, but the last two to three days have stopped me from staying silent. People are calling Ram a sleaze, a ‘tharki’ and saying he has vested interests. Let me tell you, this is how Ram is. I am not defending him for the way he is, but he is a man who is all heart. He entered this reality show without any strategy or plan, and I think that’s what people are seeing.”
Gautami further questioned why the issue surfaced only after several weeks inside the house. “If he was actually being sleazy, the inmates would have called him out in the initial days. They have been inside the house for four to five weeks. Why has this become an issue now?” she asked.
She also suggested that Ram’s decision not to support Shreya as a gang leader may have contributed to the situation. “Maybe he should have supported her because she performed tasks brilliantly for him and always stood by him. But that was his personal decision, so I don’t want to comment further,” Gautami said.
Appealing to viewers, Gautami reminded everyone that reality shows involve immense mental pressure. “We watch the show comfortably from our homes, but the contestants have stayed locked inside for weeks without any contact with the outside world. It is a huge mind game, and we don’t even know the complete story because we only watch edited episodes. Before posting such harsh and toxic comments, please remember that they affect our family too. Please be a little considerate.”
She concluded her message by extending her best wishes to every contestant while reaffirming her support for her husband. “I wish all the contestants all the very best. I am going to support my husband till the very end. Ram, we love you and we are rooting for you. All the best.”
Gautami Kapoor’s emotional statement has now added a new dimension to the ongoing Lock Upp 2 controversy, with fans continuing to remain divided over the allegations against Ram Kapoor.
