The Supreme Court of India’s recent order to relocate stray dogs from the streets of Delhi and NCR to shelters has sparked a heated debate among every Indian, including celebrities. While some oppose the decision, calling it unfair to animals, others are supporting the move, citing public safety concerns due to the rising cases of dog bites and rabies in the city.
Singer and reality show star Rahul Vaidya has openly lauded the Supreme Court’s judgement. Taking to Instagram Stories, Rahul expressed his support and also recalled a personal incident involving a stray dog bite in 2021.
“I support the honourable court’s judgement. I love dogs but as Gandhi Ji said – ‘Roving dogs reflect society’s neglect, not compassion,’” Rahul wrote. He shared a photo showing the injury from the bite and revealed, “I was bitten by a stray dog in 2021. Ek actor ka kutta hai ye… it was a stray dog jo usne pala tha. When I spoke to kids in that building, they said this dog often bites. Irony is, ye actor crime patrol host karta hai.”
Rahul later clarified that the actor hosts a similar crime-based show, not Crime Patrol, and emphasised that his point was about the issue, not the person. “The judges are not jokers; they are sitting in the chair for a reason. Don’t just get emotional about it and forget that this is a serious issue which needs a clean-up,” he added.
Criticising those opposing the relocation order, Rahul said, “Agar itna hi pyaar hai stray dogs se so please take them home! Don’t just put long stories on social media and criticise a court’s judgement. Loving animals has nothing to do with this issue!”
He concluded with a hard-hitting question: “If your parents or children get bitten by stray dogs, would your opinion be the same?”
Rahul Vaidya, known for his participation in Bigg Boss 14, Khatron Ke Khiladi 11, and recently Laughter Chefs, has once again stirred conversation with his bold stance on the controversial issue.
