Priyanka Chahar Choudhary recently opened up about her equation with Ankit Gupta and their recent distance in an interview with Balaji Telefilms’ official YouTube channel. The actress addressed their decision to stop talking and also spoke about Ankit during a rapid-fire round.
Priyanka and Ankit first met on the sets of their popular show Udaariyaan, where they played the lead roles. Their on-screen chemistry soon turned into a close off-screen friendship. They later entered Bigg Boss 16 together, and their bond became one of the most talked-about equations of the season.
Fans fondly called them ‘PriyAnkit’ and often speculated about their relationship. However, Priyanka and Ankit always maintained that they were good friends and denied dating rumours. The duo also worked together on a few music videos and often attended events and parties together.
Priyanka Chahar Choudhary reveals why she and Ankit Gupta stopped talking
During the interview, Priyanka addressed the recent change in her equation with Ankit. When asked about the real reason they stopped talking, she said, “I think it’s between me and him. Many times, it happens that not all relationships need to stay together. There are good relationships too, but that doesn’t mean that they necessarily need to be together. It was like a different call, but yeah that’s it.”
The actress also reacted when the interviewer suggested that Ankit’s career graph had gone down after their alleged breakup. Priyanka disagreed with the idea that someone needs another person to guide them in life.
Priyanka said, “It’s not like that. First of all, who can really show someone the right path? You are mature and sensible enough to make your own decisions. You have built your life yourself until now, so you will continue to do the same in the future. I don’t want to get too much into what is happening or what is not happening.
I just want to say that everyone is sensible, everyone is an adult, and everyone has experienced a lot in life. They have all reached this stage on their own, so they have enough understanding to know what they should and shouldn’t do. So, whether someone is there or not, or whether someone guides them, I don’t think it makes a difference.”
When the interviewer asked her whether Ankit Gupta has become like Govinda, she replied, “I don’t know what you are talking about. I’m out of this topic. He is a very good guy, and that’s all I want to say.”
Priyanka chooses Ankit Gupta as ‘marriage material’
Priyanka also faced a rapid-fire question where she had to choose between Ankit Gupta, Namik Paul and Abhishek Malhan for kill, marry and hook-up.
She initially asked, “Can we change the names?”
However, after she had to continue with the same options, Priyanka said, “I’ll shock you with my answer. I’ll kill Abhishek because right now there is some tashan going on between us, so I’ll kill Abhishek and I’ll win Battleground.”
She then chose Namik for hook-up and Ankit for marriage. Priyanka explained, “Hook up, because look, I can’t upset my co-actors. So I can’t kill him anyway. Kill, I have to do Abhishek. Hook up will be Namik, marry will be Ankit.”
She then added about Ankit, “Yeah. He’s a marriage material for sure.”
When asked if she regretted her decision, Priyanka made it clear that she does not regret her decisions.
She said, “No, I don’t regret anything in my life. Whatever I take decisions, I don’t regret it. It’s fine.”
Priyanka refuses to comment on Ankit’s future relationships
The actress also faced a question about who, apart from her, could be a girl in Ankit’s life. Priyanka refused to comment on his personal life.
She said, “Who am I to say this? Who am I in his life? Let the ex remain an ex. Don’t take it till Y-Z. We don’t have to complete it.”
Priyanka’s comments come months after she and Ankit surprised fans by unfollowing each other on social media in March 2025. Around the same time, Ankit also backed out of Terre Ho Jaayein Hum, a project from their Udaariyaan producers Ravi Dubey and Sargun Mehta, which reportedly planned to pair him opposite Priyanka.
Despite their changing equation, Priyanka continues to describe Ankit as a “very good guy,” while choosing not to reveal the personal reasons behind their decision to distance themselves.
