Bigg Boss 20 contestant Rhiti Tiwari recently opened up about her relationship with her father, actor, singer and politician Manoj Tiwari. During a conversation with Scout (Tanmay Singh), Rhiti spoke about her parents’ divorce, her struggles and the pressure of carrying her father’s famous surname while trying to create an identity of her own.
Manoj Tiwari and Rhiti’s mother Rani Tiwari divorced in 2012 after 11 years of marriage. Rhiti revealed that she had limited contact with her father after the divorce and would meet him only around once a year. When she turned 18 or 19, she decided to spend more time with him because she wanted to understand him better.
Rhiti explained that she did not receive the wealth or opportunities associated with her father’s name. Instead, she inherited the recognition that came with being Manoj Tiwari’s daughter.
“The things that came to me were his name. When I enter a room, that name gives me respect. I am Manoj Tiwari’s daughter, so I carry that respect,” she said.
Rhiti also revealed that her father told her to build her career independently. “He told me that if you have it in you, you will do it yourself. I will not do it for you,” she recalled.
She then spoke about her financial struggles and said people often assume she grew up with a “very big silver spoon” because of her father’s fame. Rhiti claimed that she sometimes ate a ₹10 vada pav twice a day to manage her expenses.
“Everyone thinks I come with a very big silver spoon in my mouth, but no, I’m just a layman. So it’s tough,” she said.
Rhiti has also spoken in the past about wanting to achieve something in life through her own efforts rather than relying on her father’s name. She previously revealed that she faced rape and death threats online because of her identity as Manoj Tiwari’s daughter and said the threats came from people who disagreed with her father’s ideologies.
Manoj Tiwari joined Rhiti on the Bigg Boss 20 grand premiere night to wish her luck before she entered the house. His appearance marked a special moment as Rhiti began her own Bigg Boss journey.
