Bollywood heartthrob Varun Dhawan is set to star in the much-anticipated sequel, Border 2. The actor will portray a soldier, joining forces with Sunny Deol, who will reprise his iconic role from the original 1997 war drama, Border, directed by J.P. Dutta.
The exciting news was officially announced on social media on Friday, sparking enthusiasm among fans. Varun shared an announcement video on Instagram, where he passionately delivered a powerful dialogue: “Dushman ki har goli se Jai Hind bolkar takrata hunโฆ Jab dharti Maa bulati hai sab chodh kar aata hunโฆ Hindustan ka fauji hun main.”
In an emotional note accompanying the video, Varun reminisced about watching the original Border as a young child. He wrote – “I was just a kid in class four when I went to Chandan cinema and saw Border. And it made such a big impact. I still remember the sense of national pride we all felt in the hall. I began looking up to our armed forces and to this day, I salute how they protect us and keep us safe be it on our borders or during natural calamities.”
Varun expressed his excitement about working with Sunny Deol, calling him his “hero,” and shared his pride in being part of what promises to be India’s biggest war film. He further wrote – “J P Dutta sirโs war epic remains one of my most favorite movies to this day. To play a part in Border 2 produced by J P sir and Bhushan Kumar is a very, very special moment in my career. And I get to work with Sunny Paaji my hero makes it all the more special. Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta are producing Border 2, with Anurag Singh directing. The film will release on January 23, 2026.
