Television actor Ashish Kapoor, known for shows like Saraswatichandra, Dekha Ek Khwaab, and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, has been arrested in connection with an alleged rape case. The case was registered at the Civil Lines police station in Delhi, officials confirmed.
According to police, a Gurugram-based professional woman lodged a complaint on August 11, alleging that Ashish had sexually assaulted her during a house party in Delhi in the second week of August. The woman initially claimed that Ashish, along with unidentified men, raped her inside a bathroom, but later revised her statement and accused only Ashish of the crime.
Following the complaint, an FIR was registered, and police began tracking the actor’s movements. The investigation revealed that Ashish was on the run and had traveled to multiple locations. A senior officer told Hindustan Times that he was first traced to Goa, but he managed to evade the team. Later, he was located in Pune, where he was staying with a friend, and was arrested on Tuesday.
Officials stated that legal advice is also being sought in the matter. The case continues to be under active investigation, with police examining every angle before proceeding further.
