The ruling party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), released its fifth list of candidates on Sunday, March 24th, for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Among the names announced, two well-known figures from the entertainment industry will be contesting for the first time.

Arun Govil, widely recognized for his portrayal of Lord Ram in the iconic TV series ‘Ramayan’ and more recently, for his role as Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the film ‘Article 370,’ has been selected as one of the candidates. Govil joined the BJP in 2021 and will be contesting in the Lok Sabha elections for the first time.

Arun expressed his gratitude on social media after the BJP officially announced him as their candidate for the Meerut seat in the Lok Sabha elections. He wrote – “Heartfelt gratitude to Respected Shri Narendra Modi ji and the selection committee who have given me such a big responsibility by making me the MP candidate of Meerut. Joining him is actress Kangana Ranaut, known for her strong opinions and roles in numerous films. Ranaut, who has been vocal about her support for right-wing ideologies, will also be contesting for the Lok Sabha seat for the first time, representing the BJP. She will be contesting in the Lok Sabha elections from the Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh, her birthplace.
Following the official announcement by the BJP, Kangana shared her excitement on a social media platform. She expressed feeling honored to be chosen as the BJP’s candidate. Kangana pledged to follow the party’s decision and work diligently as a member.
