Actor and reality star Gaurav Khanna has landed in controversy after the latest episode of Bigg Boss 19. Viewers expressed disappointment and anger when Gaurav refused to take up cooking duties inside the house, despite being the winner of Celebrity MasterChef.
The drama began when the first captain of the house, Kunickaa Sadanand, divided responsibilities among housemates. She asked Gaurav to choose between preparing breakfast or lunch. To everyone’s surprise, Gaurav declined and said, “I can’t cook Indian food. You all will stay hungry. It’s not written in my contract that I will cook food.”
This statement didn’t sit well with fans. Netizens quickly flooded social media with criticism, calling his Celebrity MasterChef victory “fake” and the show itself “scripted.”
One furious viewer wrote, “Celebrity MasterChef India is a total sham! Winner Gaurav Khanna can’t even cook basic food? Participants & judges are just jokers fooling us for TRPs. Scripted drama, not real cooking!” Another user added, “One second, Gaurav doesn’t know how to cook? Why are you doing this? Aren’t you the MasterChef winner? So it was all scripted, maybe!”
As backlash intensified, Gaurav Khanna’s team stepped in to defend him with a strong clarification on social media platform X. Their statement read:
“Let’s be clear – MasterChef and Bigg Boss cooking aren’t the same. At MasterChef, Gaurav worked with guidance, preparing one plated dish with finesse. In Bigg Boss, it’s about daily meals for everyone, with no supervision. Before Celebrity MasterChef, Gaurav had never cooked at all. The show was about learning, adapting, and performing under immense pressure. Winning that title was about determination, not prior skill. Judging him today based on one statement about Indian food is unfair. We stand by you #GK.”
The defense, however, has not completely silenced the critics. While loyal fans supported him, others continued to question how a MasterChef winner could avoid basic cooking duties.
What do you think — is Gaurav Khanna being unfairly trolled, or should a Celebrity MasterChef winner handle basic cooking in Bigg Boss? Let us know in the comment section below.
