The Karnataka High Court has closed the case against Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, bringing relief after months of controversy. The court quashed the FIR filed over his mimicry of a scene inspired by Kantara: Chapter 1. Ranveer Singh submitted an unconditional apology and promised corrective steps, which played a key role in the court’s decision.

Ranveer Singh Issues Apology, Promises Temple Visit

During the hearing, Ranveer Singh presented a revised affidavit expressing regret for his remarks. He assured the court that he would visit the Chamundeshwari Temple within four weeks to seek forgiveness from devotees and the community. His legal team emphasized that the actor understood the sensitivity of the issue and chose not to prolong the matter through legal arguments. The court accepted this assurance and decided to close the case swiftly.

Court Warns Celebrities on Cultural Sensitivity

While granting relief, the High Court strongly cautioned the actor. Judges stated that public figures must act responsibly, especially when they speak about cultural or religious subjects. The court highlighted that celebrities influence large audiences and should avoid statements or performances that may hurt sentiments. It added that it would include a formal warning in its order to reinforce this message.

Controversy Linked to Kantara Mimicry Incident

The dispute began during a public event last year, where Ranveer Singh mimicked a character played by Rishab Shetty in Kantara: Chapter 1. Some remarks during the act offended certain groups, particularly devotees associated with the Chamundeshwari Temple. A complaint followed, leading to an FIR against the actor. The complainant argued that the issue involved religious faith and urged the court to set a strong example.

The High Court acknowledged these concerns but chose a balanced approach. By accepting the apology and issuing a warning, the court aimed to resolve the matter while reminding public figures to remain mindful of cultural sensitivities.
